Cheryl Ann Kern

Cheryl Ann Kern, 67, of Stronghurst, IL, formerly of Washington, IA, died 4:40 AM, Saturday at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, IL.

Born September 1, 1948, in Washington, IA, she was the daughter of Lester and Lovetta Patterson Kern. She married Barry VanEngelenhoven, they later divorced. In 1973, she married Donald Manning Sr. They later divorced. 

She worked at her brother's restaurant, The Washington Cafe, as a cook for years.

Cheryl attended Washington High School in Washington, IA.  

She was of the Catholic Faith. She was an Elvis Presley fan, loved to crochet and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lesley Cratton of Burlington and Connie Brockett of Lomax, IL; three grandchildren, Neiko Brockett of Carthage, IL, Cole and Coral Gilpin of Burlington; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services. Inurnment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery at a later date.
