Christine "Bear" Billups

Christine "Bear" Billups, 47, of Burlington, died at 3:55 AM Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born January 13, 1969, in Waterloo, she was the daughter of Ronald Dudley and Jean Elizabeth Rasmussen Billups. 

Bear worked in the family business, Billups Tire & Service, for 26 years.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1987. 

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.  She was a talented vocalist and very artistic; she would turn anything into something beautiful. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, crafting, and gardening.

Survivors include her mother, Jean of Burlington; two brothers, Jon Dudley (Mitty) Billups of Burlington and Tom Billups of Richmond, CA; several nieces and nephews; one son; and one daughter.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory.

The Requiem Holy Eucharist for Bear will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Christ Episcopal Church with Reverend Wayne K. Kamm officiating.   A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Big Muddy's following the service.  Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice House and Des Moines County Humane Society.
