Mary Elizabeth Hoffman

Mary Elizabeth Hoffman, 63, of Burlington, died at 12:14 PM Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born January 31, 1953, in Rockford, IL, she was the daughter of Roy Allen and Mary June Hartley Gillette. On November 7, 1998, she married Daniel Mitchell Hoffman in Burlington.  He died December 1, 2011.

Mary worked for Two Rivers Bank and Trust for 25 years.  She then worked as the owner and operator of Big River Popcorn Company.

She was a member of West Avenue Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, scuba diving, and crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Amanda (Cory) McGraw and Jaquelyn Ann Marmion both of Burlington; two grandchildren, Mary Alexis McGraw and Connor Allen McGraw; her mother, Mary June Gillette of Burlington; one brother, Ronald Allen (Nana) Gillette of Burlington; one sister, Linda Joyce Hoffman Lorimer of Burlington; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hoffman will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 22, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Dean Graber officiating.   A time of food and fellowship will be held West Avenue Baptist Church following the service.  Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service.

A memorial has been established.
