Alice Naumann, 91, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Oakview Nursing Home.
She was born Alice Regina Bernhardt on August 18, 1929 near St. Michael's in rural Emmons County, North Dakota, to Leopold and Frances (Kuntz) Bernhardt.
She attended country school, and high schools in Bismarck, Napoleon and finally Linton.
In her senior year, her father became ill and she dropped out of school to help run the family business, North Side Grocery Store in Linton. Alice and LeRoy farmed from the time they were first married until 1975, when they bought Oster Furniture Store in Linton. LeRoy continued to farm while Alice ran the store, with LeRoy joining her in the off-season. They loved helping people decorate their homes. They retired in 1989.
Alice enjoyed reading, genealogy, oil painting, and crocheting. She created many items of beauty that are cherished by her family and friends.
Left to treasured her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Hal Morton of Burlington, IA; her grandchildren, Anika and Alex Morton; sisters, Ida Bauman of New Mexicon, Rose Bernhardt, OSF of New York and Pauline Gerhardt of South Dakota; 15 nephews and 17 nieces.
