Barbara L. Schreiner, 89, of Peoria, AZ, passed away at 9:06 PM, Monday, September 14, 2020 at the MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care at Arrowhead in Glendale, AZ.
Born May 1, 1931 in Galesburg, IL, she was the daughter of Dennis Seward and Lola Belle Brown Ahlberg. On April 2, 1955, she married Louis Innocence Schreiner III at St. John the Baptist Church in Burlington, IA. He passed away November 20, 1992.
Barbara was a 1948 graduate of Gladstone High School, Gladstone, IL and a 1952 graduate of Western Illinois State College with a B.S. in Education. She was also a 1969 graduate of Central Missouri State College with a M.S. in Mathematics.
Barbara was a Junior/Senior High School Math teacher and with her husband owned and operated I & L Business Services in Garden Valley, ID for 10 years.
Barbara is a former member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Burlington, IA and a current member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Sun City, AZ. She was very involved with various church ministries. She was a Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed baseball tours and her adventures took her to all 50 states, plus Italy and the Holy Land.
Survivors include her three sons, James L. (Cynthia) Schreiner of Lake Jackson, TX, Jerome R. (Kelly) Schreiner of Fort Worth, TX and Robert A. Schreiner of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Melissa R. Schreiner, Jordan L. Schreiner, Alec C. Schreiner and Andrew J. Schreiner; one great-grandson, Edan L. Banovich; two brothers C. Dennis Ahlberg of Springfield, IL and James E. (Jeanne) Ahlberg of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis, two sons, Richard L. Schreiner and John T. Schreiner, and a brother, Harold L. Ahlberg.
Visitation will be from noon until 4:00 PM Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 concerns, masks and social distancing are requested.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Barbara Schreiner will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 12, 2020, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Burlington, IA. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the Facebook page for Divine Mercy Parish.
