Betty Hazel Obituary

Betty Hazel, 79, of Burlington, died at 7:42 PM Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 14, 1943, in Winamac, IN, She married Richard Swarringim and they later divorced in 1984. On August 30, 1990, she married Harry Carl Hazel in Mason City, IL. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2010.

Betty graduated Winamac High School and later graduated with an Associate's Degree from Minnesota University.

Betty was a member of the American Boer Goat Association. She enjoyed family, raising farm animals, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Elizabeth (Brian) Mosher of Burlington, great-granddaughter, Brianne E Mosher; son-in-law Ron Carlson of Burlington: and brother, Carl Doty of Indiana.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Melinda Carlson, and 4 brothers.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for her great-granddaughter Brianne.
