Betty McCruter

Betty Joan McCruter, 94, of West Burlington, died Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born February 22, 1931, in Shelbina, MO, she was the daughter of Charley Lee and Florence Luvada Kipper Robinson.

After attending Burlington High School, Betty took classes at the Burlington Business College.

She worked as a locksmith at Shorty Gamble Gun Store for many years and later at the Burlington Northern Railroad shops.

Betty was a member of Union Baptist FGF Church. 

She was known for her personal style. She wore beautiful rings, and was always dressed in the latest fashions. She could be seen driving around town in one of her "fancy" cars, such as her Chrysler Imperial or one of her Cadillacs and she loved shopping at Schramm's Department store. She was a strong willed woman who loved to dance, play the piano, and be called "Nannie" by her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Lyle A. Robinson of Waterloo, IA; daughter, Linda Joan Robinson of Burlington; two brothers, Thomas Henry Robinson and Ray Luther Robinson both of Burlington; five grandchildren, Harriet, Lyle T., Lyle R., Lynet Chel'Lease, and Joey; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles L. and Roy Robinson; sisters, Ruby Greenup and Velma Smith; and aunt, Lula Mae.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The funeral service for Betty J. McCruter will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 13, 2025, 3940 Division Street with Pastors Marcus Timmons and Tim Redd officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held at Union Baptist FGF Church following the burial.

A memorial has been established.
