Calvin DeWayne Cheney

Calvin DeWayne Cheney, 47, of Burlington, formerly of Kingston, died at 6:18 PM Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in Durant, IA.

Born May 29, 1974, in Burlington, he was the son of Kenneth Wayne Cheney and Janice Lorraine Laue Heyveld

He was a 1992 graduate of Mediapolis High School.

Calvin was known for making the most of every day, having fun and living life to the fullest. Calvin was described as being very funny and having a great sense of humor. He made the best Alfredo dish and loved a cold Bud Light. Most of all, Calvin loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. 

Survivors include five children, Dallas Cheney of Houghton, IA, Cami (Tavian) DeSpain of Mount Pleasant, IA, Sierra Cheney of Houghton, IA, Gwendolyn Cheney of Durant, IA, and Lillian Cheney of Durant, IA; four grandchildren, Gracelynn Beason of Ollie, IA, Remington Cheney of Ollie, IA, Beckett DeSpain of Mount Pleasant, IA, and one on the way, Anakin DeSpain; fiancée Darcy Long of Burlington; three-siblings, Cindy (Rich) Cook, Jeff (Sherry) Cheney and Kenny Cheney all of Burlington; five step-siblings, Theresa Heyveld of Muscatine, IA, Jean (Dustin) Johnson of Burlington, Eric (Tracy) Heyveld of Burlington, Richard (Michelle) Blythe of Charitan and Todd (Barb) Blythe of West Burlington, IA; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Calvin at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his kids.
