Carl L. "Butch" Rechkemmer, 77, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at his home in Niota, IL.
He was born September 21, 1943, in Oakville, IA, and was the son of Alvin and Mabel (Kramer) Rechkemmer.
He married Vicky Nelson and they later divorced. Butch married Donna Steffensmeier in 2004 and she passed away in 2014.
He attended Oakville School and was a former Des Moines County Deputy Sheriff. Butch retired from J.I. Case after more than 30 years of service.
He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, deer hunting, fishing, car races, and especially his dogs, Mophead and Teddy Bear.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Betty Burns) Rechkemmer of Gold Canyon, AZ and his son, Doug (Kathie) Rechkemmer of Loveland, CO; two stepdaughters, Jeanne (Scott) Seager of Fort Madison, IA and Linda (Jim) Braden of Keokuk, IA; one stepson, Howard (Nicole) Steffensmeier of Oldsmar, FL; four grandchildren, Zach and Payton Rechkemmer, Jay (Megan) DeWall and Whitney DeWall; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Hunter, and Evelynn DeWall. He is also survived by one sister, Cora (Ronald) Ater of Burlington; two brothers, Kenneth (Doris) Rechkemmer of Burlington, and James Rechkemmer of Des Moines, IA; and one sister-in-law, Esther Rechkemmer of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife, Donna, and three brothers, Melvin, Russell, and Elwood.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday, April 26, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home at 3940 Division Street in Burlington. The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 26, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be at the Apostolic Cemetery near Oakville, IA. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Oakville Community Center in Oakville, IA. following the burial.
