Born June 6, 1920, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul and Lucille Conn Mack. On June 29,1940 she married William H. Ford in Burlington. He passed on November 19,1984.
Along with being a loving homemaker, Kay worked for Montgomery Ward from 1963 to 1968 and then for Sears in downtown Burlington until they closed.
She was a 1938 graduate of Burlington High School.
Kay was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church where she served on the Board of Christian Education. Her most cherished service was teaching and caring for the children during church services.
Kay was well known for her pie and cookie baking skills. She always had a batch of her famous pink frosted sour cream cookies ready for everyone’s enjoyment. Her other activities and hobbies included working in her yard, taking pictures, playing cards with the “Sexy Six” card club, taking road/train trips to Colorado to see her daughter Judy and family, flying in her son’s airplane, walking in Crapo Park, collecting Teddy Bears and of course her love of anything Elvis Presley. She volunteered at the Burlington Regional Airshow, Burlington Welcome Center and the Log Cabin in Crapo Park. Kay's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, David W. (Kathy) Ford of Burlington; one son-in-law Don Riemann of Longmont, CO; four grandchildren: Lori (Roger) Pitts, Lisa Cayce, Thad (Gina Wurtzel) Ford, and Angela (Jeff) Smith; three great-grandchildren: Samantha, Dawson, and Gavin; one sister, Jackie Storks; and many nieces and nephews.
