Cindy Powell

Cynthia Alice Powell, 70, of Burlington, died Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 21, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles Harry and Patricia Lou Stanbary Powell. On August 16, 1979, she married Jackie Ray Doane in Burlington, IA. On March 10, 1995, he passed away.

She graduated from Burlington High School and was apart of the first graduating class from the new building.  

When she was young, Cindy helped her father with his asphalt company then worked at Midwest Biscuit until the birth of her daughter. Once her daughter was born, she was a stay at home mom. 

Cindy loved to be outside; fishing and horseback riding. She enjoyed going on day trips and stopping at antique stores. She was an "old hippie" that loved peace symbols, tie dye and flowers. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Football Fan. 

Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline (Aaron Sherwood) Doane of Burlington; brother, Steven Powell of Burlington; niece and nephews, Sara, Daniel and Joel (Ginny) Powell.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Charles Powell, mother, Patricia Lawrence, step father, Larry Lawrence, infant son, Mark, infant sister, Julie and sister, Juanita LeGat.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Services will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
