Cynthia Dianne Basquin, 68, of Burlington, died at 5:45 AM Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born January 7, 1952, she was the daughter of Robert "Bob" and Marjorie Miller Elting. On April 17, 1976, she married Wayne Basquin at Grace United Methodist in Burlington.
Cynthia dedicated her life to the care of her family.
She was a Burlington High School Graduate of 1970, attended Western Illinois University and then University of Iowa graduating in 1974 with a degree in English Literature.
Cynthia was of Methodist faith and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeye's basketball and SCC basketball. She loved animals, especially her pet dogs and cats. She was passionate about the environment and did whatever she could to protect it.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Basquin of Burlington; twin son, Jason (Julie) Basquin of Milwaukee, WI; twin daughter, Carrie Basquin Houston of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Lydia and Madeleine Houston; brother, Tim (Sue) Elting of Burlington; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Fred) Hoenig of Fort Madison, Iowa and Candace (Greg) Clubb of League City, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister, Christine.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be no formal services held at this time.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
