Dana Lee Harris

Dana L. Harris, 89, of West Burlington, died at 9:35 AM Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born July 4, 1932, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clarence and Nellie Alter. On November 19, 1950, she married Robert James Harris in Burlington. Robert passed away on April 21, 2014, after 63 years of marriage.

Dana was a Burlington High School graduate. 

She worked for H&R Block for over 30 years. 

Dana was a member of the First Congregational Church. She loved to play cards and was a part of a Bridge club. She enjoyed Mahjong, playing Bingo, knitting, crocheting, and fishing. Dana loved being a mom and raising her seven children.

Survivors include four sons, Rick Harris of Mabank, TX, Randy (Michelle) Harris of Burlington, Russ Harris of Iowa City, Ryan (Misty) Harris of Burlington; two daughters, Pam (Jim) Lowry of Flower Mound, TX and Lori (Doug) Coakley of New London; 15 grandchildren, Matt, Brad, Andy, and Luke Weir, Nic Lowry, Abbie Lowry-Ebert, Lauren Lowry-Owen, Jake, Kati, Samantha, Brooke, Emma, and Noah Harris, Ali and Josh Coakley; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Beverly Fisher of Burlington, Linda Kay of Arizona, and Cheryl Herbers of California; one brother, Larry (Marcia) Alter of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Connie Weir Vaughan, one brother, Jack Alter and a brother in infancy, Leon.  

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Harris will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Francisco officiating.  Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the First Congregational Church and Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
