Danny L. Mitchell

Danny Lee Mitchell, Age 73, of West Burlington, died at his home surrounded by his family on October 6, 2023.

Born February 4, 1950, in Macomb, Illinois, he was the son of Charles and Darlyne Mitchell.  On July 4, 1980, he married Sherry Lynn McPeak in Argyle State Park, Colchester, Illinois.

Dan was a loan officer for Great Western Bank for 19 years, and prior managerial positions with AVCO Financial for 26 years.  Dan retired in 2019.

He was a member of West Burlington Christian Church.  He always enjoyed being with family.  Dan liked all sports, particularly the Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals.  He enjoyed flea markets, garage sales, and auctions.  He loved his dogs, Karlee and Ruby.  His family always came first and pleasing them was a specialty of Dan. Dan was passionate to friends and neighbors, and was there to help if needed.

Dan’s family includes his two sons, Landon Mitchell of Burlington and Brett Mitchell of West Burlington, and his daughter, Kalee Mitchell of Burlington; two sisters, Sharon (Larry) Stoneking of Blandinsville, IL, and Kathy (Dennis) Little of Macomb, IL; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and the everlasting love and joy of his life, Sherry, who passed June 27, 2019.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 pm with family to receive guests from 4 pm until 7 pm on Monday, October 16 at Prugh Funeral Service (3940 Division Street, Burlington).  A funeral service for Dan is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 11 am, also at Prugh Funeral Service. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the service. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorial contributions in Dan’s memory are suggested to West Burlington Christian Church.
