Diana R. McDowell

Diana R. McDowell, 64, of Burlington, died at 1:21 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at the Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

Born July 2, 1956, in Burlington, she was the daughter of James P. and Irma lova Orendorff DeVauld Sr. On September 4, 1999, she married Ronald McDowell in Burlington, Iowa. 

Diana was owner of D.J. Assessment and was a chemical dependency counselor.

She loved her job, helping others, her family, grandchildren whom affectionately called her Dinee, cooking and was always eager to try new recipes that she had in a note book.  Diana collected owls, loved Christmas, and displaying photos that she printed.  She enjoyed her flower garden and growing lilies.  She never lost the desire to help others.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Jessica (Mike) Denning of Cedar Rapids, Dana (Brian) Nesseler of Milan, IL, Jennifer McDowell of Olympia, WA; two sons, Jonathan (Amanda) Cooper of Burlington, Mark (Laura) McDowell of Tulsa, OK; ten grandchildren, Kasie, Drew, Austin, Jordan, Justin, Matthew, Joshua, Amanda, Finn, and Rori; one sister, Carol (Pat) Kemp of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James DeVauld Jr., one brother-in-law, James McDowell, and her beloved pets Shelbie and Kit-Kat.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. McDowell will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Marty Goetz officiating.  Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.  

A memorial has been established in her name.
