Donald D. Schnupper, 93, of West Burlington, died Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Don was born in West Burlington, Iowa, on January 7, 1933, the son of Holman and Erna (Moehlman) Schnupper. He would later graduate Danville High School in 1951. On April 20, 1952, he married Jean E. Dodds at the Danville United Methodist Church. Jean passed away on September 24, 2024.
Don farmed his entire life. He loved the land and being able to care for it. When he wasn't farming, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR or sprint car races, bowling, playing golf, and visiting friends with a cold Busch Light in his hand. He was a member of Danville United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club, and enjoyed the community and friendships of both.
In Don's later years, he could be found tending his flower garden or feeding the birds and animals around his property. Most of all, Don loved his family and the time that he was able to spend with them.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lynn Sloan of West Burlington, and Kim (Randy) Foor of Morning Sun; four grandchildren, Brianne (Cortney) Duncan, Zach Newman, Jazzla Jean (Ross) Birkenstock, and Gabe (Megan) Newman; three great-granchildren, Gabe Jr., Bo and Dylan; special niece, Sherry (Jake) Kaestner; special friend, Bill Newman; and his furry friend, Mindy.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Iona Beckman.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Don's memory can be sent to either PAW Animal Shelter in Fort Madison or Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health and Hospice.
