Dorothy Mae Gerst, 90, of Burlington, died Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Addington Place in Burlington.
Born February 1, 1933, in Bardolph, IL, she was the daughter of Herbert and Helen Griffeth. On August 1, 1959, she married Marion "Hank" Gerst in Burlington. He died March 13, 1988.
She attended country grade schools and graduated from Carthage Community High School, Carthage, IL.
Dorothy was a secretary the majority of her life and at one time was employed at Sylvania Plant.
She was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed attending and supporting both her granddaughters' activities. She loved taking bus trips with friends, reading, and watching tennis on TV.
Survivors include her son, Patrick Gerst of West Burlington; two granddaughters, Crystal Klein of Burlington, and Amber Gerst of Danville; one great-granddaughter, Haley Foley of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Todd Gerst, one sister, three brothers, one niece and nephew.
The visitation for Mrs. Gerst will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 17, 2023, at Prugh Funeral Service with the graveside service to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
