Dorothy Ann Jones

Dorothy A. Jones, 72, of Burlington, IA died Monday, November 10, 2025, at her home in Burlington.

Born November 23, 1953, in Mound Bayou, MS, she was the daughter of John and Mary Green Ross. She married Kenneth Jones in Chicago, Illinois. They were married for over 40 years. 

She worked for Apollo Plastics, assembling Motorola cell phones and as an interior decorator, which was her true passion.

Dorothy was very funny. She loved to cook, watch the Golden Girls and westerns, and do DIY projects. She liked any excuse to do her makeup and get dressed up. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her familiy, especially her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Jones of Burlington; three daughters, Vivian Thompson of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon Ross of Chicago, IL, and Tiffany (Jimmie Willis) Jones of Chicago; two sons, Carl (Tiffany Sesher) Jones and Roderick Jones both of Burlington; six grandchildren, Calvon  Miles and his six children, Lee Washington and his five children, Kiona  Lee and her child, Kaevian Willis, Nadia Jones, and Kimoni Jones; one brother, Otis (Betty) Ross of Chicago, IL; one sister, Georgia Mae Holmes of Las Vegas, NV; special nephew, Karsten Ross; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Curtis Ross, Quincy Ross, John Ross, Robert Ross, Richard Ross, and Frank Ross; and three sisters, Ora Lee Wolf, Merlene Young, and Mae Catherine Thomas. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The memorial service for Mrs. Jones will be 3:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
