Douglas Dean Johnston, 72, of Burlington, died at 4:50 PM Monday, April 4, 2022, at his home.
Born July 25, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Delmer Hartman and Patricia Ann Walsh Johnston.
He was a 1967 graduate of Morning Sun High School.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from January 17, 1968 until November 6, 1971. He served on the SS Midway.
Doug worked at Federal Mogul for 18 years as an electronic technician.
He was a homebody who kept to himself. He loved movies, loved his country, and was very proud of his service in the Navy.
Survivors include his five siblings, Dan (Deb) Johnston of Roseville, IL, Rose Schneider of Winfield, IA, Fran VandenBoom of Burlington, Tammy Reyes of Wapello, IA, and Jim (Kay) Johnston of Wapello, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brother-in-laws, and one niece.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There will be a memorial service for Mr. Johnston at a later date.
