Edwin Randy Szewczyk

Edwin R. Szewczyk, 77, of Burlington, died Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born August 25, 1948, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Edwin and Martha Judd Szewczyk.

Edwin was a very hard worker.  He worked for the gypsum plant for 13 years, and various other jobs, to ensure that his family was provided for.

He had a very strategic mind.  Edwin often enjoyed playing chess with his children and friends, and would win more often than not.  He enjoyed playing video games, going fishing and camping.

Moreover, Edwin loved his grandchildren and often looked forward to spending time with them, often with a Wild Cherry Pepsi or a glass of chocolate milk.

Survivors include his children, Alan Tremane (Jolene) Milks of West Burlington, and Curtis (Elizabeth) Blackburn of West Burlington; grandchildren, Samantha Anne Milks and Dalton-James Alan Milks; siblings, John (Pam) Szewczyk, Kenny (Lynn) Szewczyk, and Michelle Zimmerman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chad Szewczyk; and brother, Ricky Szewczyk.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street, Burlington.

The memorial service for Mr. Szewczyk will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the service.  Edwin will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove South Cemetery in New London.
