Elizabeth "Liz" Renner, 93, of Danville, died at 4:37 AM Wednesday, November 10, 2021, just one day short of her 94th birthday. Liz resided at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born November 11, 1927, in Morning Sun, IA, she was the daughter of Lee Otis and Mable Ellen Stodgell. Liz and her five sisters were raised on a farm near Morning Sun. Liz was a reformed Presbyterian.
In the early 1940's, when she was fourteen years old, she went to school to learn to be a "farmette". These young girls learned to drive tracotors to fill in for the young men who had to go to war. Liz later earned her RN and was a clinical instructor at southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
On October 4, 1948 She married Keith Burdette Renner in Nashua, Iowa. He later passed on January 9, 2016. Keith and Liz lived on a farm southeast of Danville where they raised Angus cattle, sheep and hogs and grew corn and beans. Liz worked with Keith each day using her nursing skills to tend to all the animals. She enjoyed fishing and gardening both flowers and vegetables.
Liz was a wonderful nurse, helping all her friends and family when care was needed. She would sit for hours with her kind words until she knew all was well.
At Klein's, Liz was known for her "quips". She had one for most every occasion. As she would say right now... "toodaloo"!
Survivors include two sisters; Leota Pilling of Mediapolis, IA and Helen Baum of Iowa City, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Renner will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 15, 2021 at Jaggar Cemetery.
