Eric Raymond Orth, 53, of Burlington, died at 11:44 AM Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born April 16, 1968, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward Raymond and Dolores Ruth Juettemeyer Orth. On September 20, 2014, he married Lori Smith at St. John's Catholic Church in Burlington, IA.
Eric was an engineer at Case Company and a chemist at Champion.
He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and graduated from Monmouth College with a Bachelor's in Chemistry.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and Exodist Church Group on Saturday. Eric was a past member of the S. C. A. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, spending time at the cabin, and the Iowa Hawkeye's.
Survivors include his wife, Lori of Burlington; three step-children, Adrienne Martindale, William Martindale both of Burlington, Emily Martindale of North Liberty; three grandsons, Jayden, Jacob, and Noah; six brothers, Don (Shirley) Orth, Daren (Amie) Orth, Gabe (Beth) Orth all of Burlington, Jim Orth of Cedar Rapids, Everett Orth of Burlington; and Roy "Bubba" Orth of Wever; three sisters, Beth Orth of Cedar Rapids, Angela (Cooter) Walljasper of West Point, and Cindy (D.J.) DiPrima of Wever; father-in-law, Robert (Irene) Smith of OK; mother-in-law, Carol Smith of Burlington; sister-in-law, Lynn Taylor of Burlington; brother-in-law, Robert Smith of Hollister, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Justin & Joshua.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 04:30 PM Rosary until 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Orth will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the Parrish Hall following the service.
Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory following the service.
Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2021 at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
