Esther Reynolds

Esther Irene Reynolds, 90, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at her home.

Born August 13, 1933, in Hopper, IL, she was the daughter of James Henry and Sadie Helen Waterman Bolander. On September 9, 1950, she married Calvin Eugene Reynolds in Oquawka, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2017.

Esther worked at K-Mart for 20 years.

Esther loved traveling with her husband, especially to Branson, MO, and they always enjoyed going to the casino together. She loved hosting family meals and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Randy (JoAnn) Reynolds of Burlington, Stephen Reynolds of Burlington; one daughter, Brenda (Eric) Thye of Burlington; nine grandchildren, Matt Reynolds, Cody Reynolds, Chandra Bliesener, Jennifer Thompson, Abigail  Reynolds, James DeFosse, Tara Bryant, Jessica Haley and Brandon Thye; 11 great-grandchildren, one great great-granchild, plus one on the way; two brothers, Paul Bolander of Burlington and Wayne (Sherry) Bolander of Burlington and two sisters, Ruby Gott of Wapello and Hazel (Wayne) Dixon of Burlington.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Theresa Reynolds, seven brothers, Harry, Albert, Danny, Richard, James, John and Tom Bolander, one sister, Betty Brockett, and one grandchild, Sandra Dietsch.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Reynolds will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 8, 2024, at Carman Cemetery with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. 

A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
