Obituary

Frances Mary Statter, 99, of Burlington, died at 4:50 AM Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born March 30, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Bertha Hill Powell. On April 26, 1944, she married James Statter in Burlington. He passed away on October 24, 1984.

Frances worked during WWII, but after the war, she stayed home and took care of her children. She later started working for Walmart until her retirement after 27 years. Frances was very dedicated to every job she had. She would volunteer to work on the weekends and holidays, so her younger coworkers would be able to spend more time with their own families.

Frances was compassionate and put others before herself. She enjoyed hard work and working in her yard. Her family moved many times over the years, and her large geode collection was always moved as well.

Survivors include her son, James L. (Carol) Statter of Mobile, AL; sister, Irene Doom of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews;.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steve Statter; three brothers, William, Samuel, and Leonard; and three sisters, Marqureite Reid, Alice Gracey and Lily Taulker.
