George L. Griffith

George L. Griffith, 58, of Burlington, died at 7:40 AM Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the Danville Care Center.

Born March 23, 1963, in Fort Madison, IA, he was the son of George G. and Patricia A. Smith Griffith. 

George graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1981 and then graduated from SCC in 1983 with a degree in criminal justice. He would later graduate the police academy in Biloxi, MS.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

George worked as a policeman and later as the head of security for a mall in Biloxi, MS. Later on he worked as a foreman at a shrimp factory. 

He was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching M.A.S.H. and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his mother, Patricia (Carl) Bergman of Burlington; sister, Clarice (Scott) Graham of Maquoketa, IA; son, Elton Griffith; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, one infant brother, Christopher Hemmie, three sisters, Sherry Powelson, Candice Pilkington, and Pamela Waterman, and one nephew, John Wayne Miller. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Celebration of Life for Mr. Griffith will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 31, 2021 at New Life UPC, 1748 South Street, Burlington, Iowa.
