Hope Mary Hillyer, 66, of Middletown, died Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Hope was born September 8, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William Frederick and Rose Oboikovitz Luzadder.
Hope was a fighter. She loved her family fiercely and deeply and excelled at running her home. She had a deep and unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life. She enjoyed writing poetry and sharing her gift with others. She loved reading the Bible and keeping prayer in her heart and on her lips. She was very active at First Baptist Church in Danville; always a willing worker and enjoyed serving as a deaconess. Her kindness and generosity will be missed, but her spirit and legacy will be carried by all who love her.
Hope's family include her husband of 48 years, Kenneth Hillyer; children; Chrystal (Aaron) Jackson and Kenny Hillyer, Jr; grandchildren, Jimmy Hillyer, Jamie Hillyer, and Mary Hillyer; siblings, David B. (Linda) Luzadder, and Cindy William; and niece, Rose Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose; and siblings, Margaret Suggett, Frank Luzadder and William Luzadder.
Cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service.
The memorial service for Hope will be Wednesday, November 20, 11:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church (302 S. Main St., Danville), with Reverend Jack Edmisson officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at First Baptist following the service.
Memorial contributions in Hope's memory may be made to the First Baptist Church in Danville.
