Iowna West

Iowna Kay West, 85, formerly of Burlington, died Friday, November 18, 2022.

Kay was born December 28, 1936, the daughter of John Christian and Mabel Ione (Brent) Russell.

Kay began her career at age 15 at K & R Grocery on Main Street, Kroger and retired from Hy-Vee on Agency after 37 years. 

Kay is survived by her children Pam Walz (Larry), Rhonda Rowe (Richard), Frederick West Jr. (Abby), Walter West (Seanne), Curtis West (Kellie) and their sister Carla West Shannon.

Kay is grandma to Patty Walz (Casey), Amy Schatterman (Jeff), Amanda Orton (Brandon), Crystal Emmons (Thom), NaTasha Gudehus (Neil), Tyler Rowe (Rachel), Heidi Musselman (Cole), Kayla West (Adam), Katy West, Jordan West, Whitney Kinney (Dan) Kaysie Burden (Gabe), Jamie Pringle (Dan), Kiley West and her Pomeranian “Dreamer” who she lovingly called her baby. Great Grandchildren Ashleigh (Andrew), Kayleigh, Hunter, Hudson, Alyssa, Tanner, Caleb, Lauren, Preston, Colton, Calia, Peyton, Ella, Kennedy, Ethan, Nolan, Paisley, Bucannon, Logan, Kaylee, Karter, Brantley, Thea, Ava, Ari, Chloe, Skyler, Aiden and Great Great Granddaughter Layla. Kay is survived by her sister Ruth Dirth, sister in laws Sandy and Connie Russell and many nieces & nephews.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ora Faye Cole, and five brothers; Melvin, Harold Dean, Robert, Tom & Donald Russell, former husband Frederick West and grandson Jordan West.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the family to receive friends Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.

The funeral service for Mrs. West will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St. 

A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the service. Burial will be at a later date in Latty Cemetery.
