Jack Dahlsten Obituary

Jack Dahlsten, 71, of rural Burlington, died Friday, November 21, 2025.

Born December 12, 1953, in Burlington, he was the son of George and Mildred (Leas) Dahlsten. On December 12, 1975, he married Janice Jones in Burlington.

He was a 1972 graduate of Mediapolis High School. Jack continued his education at SCC and graduated from the welding program.

Jack spent 30 years working at J.I. Case. He began his career as a factory welder, before spending his final ten years in the experimental department. He was a proud member of the UAW Local 807 union. After retirement, he happily started his second career taking over the family farm.

Jack loved the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, boating on the river, and growing an enormous garden, which he shared generously. He also loved hunting, whether it was ducks, geese, mushrooms, or for or his next deal on Facebook Marketplace. Jack was a strong advocate for side-by-sides and loved going for rides. Jack never met a stranger and was always eager to host friends, family, and anyone who crossed his path. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Dahlsten of Burlington; two sons, Bradley Dahlsten of Ames and Matthew (Kaela) Dahlsten of Roland, IA; three grandchildren, Henry, Max, and Amelia; and his brother, Frank Dahlsten of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Jr.
