James Bessine Obituary

James Eugene Bessine, 79, of Burlington, died at 1:25 PM Friday, January 8, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 24, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Frederick and Anna Koehler Bessine. He married Dixie Harden, they later divorced.  He married Judith Payne, they later divorced.

Jim was a union electrician and the last 24 years he was the business manager of IBEW Local 13 Electricians Union.

He was of Catholic faith. He was an avid water fowl hunter. He was a member of Cascade Boating Association, Ed's Cascade Fishing and Hunting Club. He enjoyed doing for others, was very giving of his time and talents and yet sometimes hardheaded. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Scott (Becky) Bessine of Burlington; special friend, Carol Boeding of Burlington; two grandsons, Brandon and Justin Bessine of Burlington; two step-granddaughters, Morgan (Ben) Alchier of Ft. Madison, Samantha (Adam) Gabeline of Yarmouth; four step-great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Tate, Jackson, & Kellen; one brother, Dick Bessine of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy Bessine, three brothers, Bob, Fred, and Ed.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services at this time. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
