James Everett Hart, 83, of Lomax, died at 4:06 PM Sunday, May 30, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 16, 1937, in Yates City, IL, he was the son of John E. and Leona M. Thurman Hart. On August 25, 1957, he married Patricia A. Norton in Burlington, Iowa.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and was deployed during the Cuban Conflict.
James was retired from J.I. Case Company.
He was a member of Local Union #807. He liked his church, and Pastor Charles Stevens was a long time friend of his. He enjoyed working outdoors, and always making sure the cattle were staying in the manger where they belonged. Most of all, he loved his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A Hart of Lomax, IL; two sisters, Jean McGee of LaHarpe, IL, and Eileen Logan of Lomax, IL; one brother, John Hart of Oquawka, IL; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Hart will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 4, 2021, at Riverside Baptist Church with Pastor Kyle Waterhouse officiating, and Pastor Charles Stevens to eulogize. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery following the service. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the fellowship hall at Riverside Baptist Church following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Riverside Baptist Church, and Great River Hospice House.
