James Helmick, 55, of Burlington, died at 5:40 AM Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born February 2, 1966, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Charles Helmick III and Pauline Williams Walker. On April 14, 2000, he married Jamie Whittemore in Fort Madison.
James was an ordained minister. He enjoyed cookouts, landscaping, art, drawing and singing. He loved to play dungeons and dragons. James liked to make people smile then cringe and known to be a bit of an ornery trouble maker to friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Jamie; four children; Stormy (Jordan) Hughes of Mount Pleasant, Aaron Helmick of Burlington, Josh (Samantha) Porter of Mount Pleasant, Cory Porter of Fort Madison; one grandchild, Raiden and one grandchild on the way; two brothers, Russell Poland of Burlington, and Nathan Helmick of Oklahoma; two sisters, Deloris Gates of Oklahoma, and Donna Helmick of Quincy, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Connie Smith-Porter and his uncle William Helmick.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
There are no formal services at this time a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
