James Wright Obituary

James Wright, 93, of New London, died at 3:47 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at home.

Born April 3, 1927, in Canton, MO, he was the son of Jesse Ford and Jessie Muriel Robinson Wright. On November 12, 1947, married Callie Sue Weyant in Canton, MO.

James worked as a lock master for the Army Corp of Engineers.

He was a United States Navy veteran and served during WWII.

James enjoyed being out and about. He liked to take long drives and ride his motorcycle. He liked to winter in Florida with his wife, and was a "snowbird" for over 30 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Sue (Jeffrey) Alderton of New London, IA; son, F. DeWayne (Sue) Wright of Urbana, IL; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, six sisters, and one infant son.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Burial will be in Canton Cemetery in Canton, MO next to his wife at a later date.
