Jim Vorwerk, 87, of Burlington, died Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born December 3, 1936, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Anthony Lawrence and Geneva Pauline Korf Vorwerk. On December 27, 1957, he married Mary Helen McIntire in Burlington, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2012.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School, class of 1955.
Jim worked as a Supervisor for J.I. Case Company for 35 years.
He was a member of SS John & Paul Catholic Church.
Jim was an award winning trap shooter. He attended several competitions and state shoots. When he was not competing in trap shooting events, Jim was known to enjoy duck hunting.
Survivors include son, Mark Allen Vorwerk of Burlington, IA, two brothers, Paul (Marge) Vorwerk of Burlington, IA, and Ed (Linda) Vorwerk of Burlington, IA, four sisters, Mary Jo Lowe of Burlington, IA, Janice Newberry of Burlington, IA, Nancy S. (Bob) Stiengraeber of Newton, IA, and Patricia A. McGraw of West Burlington, IA, two grandchildren, Tricia (Perry) Boynton of Burlington, Iowa, and Taryn Vorwerk of Chicago, IL, one great-grandchild, Ari Boynton, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Timothy Vorwerk, and one brother, John Vorwerk.
Services for Jim will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established for his great-grandson Ari's education.
