Jan A (Barngrover) Berrong

Jan A. Berrong, 72, of Fort Madison, died Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the West Point Care Center in West Point.

Born September 28, 1953, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Richard "Dick" E. and Mary Louise Tiemeyer Barngrover. In October of 1991, she married Dale Berrong in Henry County, Iowa. 

Jan graduated from Burlington High School in 1971. She later attended Southeastern Community College, earning her associate degree in 1991.

She dedicated 25 years of hard work to American Ordinance before retiring.

Jan truly loved the outdoors, whether she was riding horses or camping with her husband. Above all else, her greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Survivors include her husband, Dale Berrong of Fort Madison; daughter, Shannon Bielser of Burlington; step-daughter, Gina (Keith) Torpey of Fairfield, CT; six grandchildren, Makayla, Nathan and Alexis Leasch, Hunter Bielser, Logan and Ryan Torpey; brother, Lyle (Connie) Barngrover of FL, and Amy S. Barngrover of Lomax, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jamie Leasch and granddaughter, Emma Stevens.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Berrong will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
