Jo Anne Walter, 84, of Burlington, died at 12:17 am Friday, July 16, 2021, at the Pearl Valley Rehab of Washington in Washington.
Born June 24, 1937, in Keokuk, IA, she was the daughter of Joseph Wypeski and Madeleine Maxine Strugeon. She married Harry Jacob Walter, and he later passed on September 28, 1993.
She was self employed as a drug and alcohol counselor for several years, touching many lives and helping many people during her tenure.
She was an incredible cook, coordinating several large meals throughout the years, and enjoyed tending to her garden. She also liked bird watching and playing bingo. She was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan, and loved her bus trips to Chicago to see them play. Most of all, she was very dedicated to her job, and helping others through her counseling.
Survivors include one daughter, Heather Poole of Burlington; two sons, Erik Jacob (Kimberly) Walter of Crystal, MN and Aaron Joshua Walter; five grandchildren, Jared (Madison) Poole of Burlington, Jordan (Breck) Poole of Altoona, IA, Annika-Elizabeth Walter of Crystal, MN, Henry Walter of Minneapolis, MN, and Jack Walter of Minneapolis, MN; three great-grandchildren, Charlise Poole of Burlington, Oakley Poole of Burlington, and Jaydin Poole of Altoona, IA; one brother, Ronnie (Jan) Canida of MD; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Clark Dean Corbett III.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Per the families wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
