Joanne Marie “Susie” Guest, 90, died peacefully in her daughter’s arms while under hospice care. From the Universe we come, and to the Universe we all return: for we are made of stardust.
She was the only daughter of Dr. Arthur Carl Kohrs, Pharm.D, and Josephine Ellen Finch Kohrs, and was predeceased by her brother, John Arthur Kohrs. J.M. Guest graduated from Burlington High School and the University of Iowa with a B.A. degree in Art and Art History.
She was employed by the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, NY. as an executive secretary and fashion model. She worked as a model in NYC, LA, and London. She later established Folk Directions Ltd. in London, England, with her late husband, Roy N. Guest. Folk Directions Ltd. brought to England many noted American folk musicians. Susie worked as a reference librarian at the Burlington Public Library before she retired.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Gwyneth Guest.
Susie’s remains will be interred in the family plot in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Prugh Funeral Services is in care of the arrangements.
Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting Susie’s obituary at www.prughfuneral.com.
Susie requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Friends of the Burlington Public Library (Support the Library), the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra (Donate to SEISO), and the Burlington Civic Music Association (Endowment Fund page).
