Jock Mooney Obituary

Jock O'Brien Mooney, 68, of Burlington, died at 10:40 am Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport in Davenport.

Born June 17, 1953, in Illinois, he was the son of Daniel Reed and Anita Merrifield Mooney. On September 21, 2002 he married Angeli Marie Reed in their backyard in Burlington.

He was a truck driver for Twomey's trucking for several years, and worked in agriculture.

He was a very religious man with a strong faith in the Lord. He loved music, his dog Chance, and most of all his family. He was loved by everyone, and could always make a friend by telling them one of his many jokes.

Survivors include wife, Angeli M Mooney of Burlington; three children, Jacalyn (John) Kendall of Oquawka, IL, James (Sherry) Mooney of West Burlington, IA, Amanda (Joseph) Mowder of Oquawka, IL; eight grandchildren Alan, Alex, Aaron and Asa Stanley, Emma Grace and Wyatt Mooney, Christopher Cassiday and Khloey Mowder; two great grandkids, Austin Stanley and Stella Gilmour; four siblings, Patricia (Pete) Burk of Kirkwook, IL, Robert (Marg) Blaisdell of Washington, IL, Ann (John) Dare of Farmington, IL, Rosalie Farm of Seboy, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Constance (Lee) Ruble, and Jan Marie Anderson, one brother Daniel Mooney, and one son, Christopher Mooney.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Per Jock's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
