John Perry Obituary

John A. Perry, 87, of Burlington, died Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice in West Burlington.

Born December 14, 1937, in Livingston, MT, he was the son of John Addson and Leila Borden Perry. On April 29, 1961, he married Judith Marie Kratovil in Livingston, MT. She preceded John in death on January 6, 2015.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the National Guard from November 7, 1962 until May 1, 1969.

John worked for Yellowstone National Park and helped on many ranches in Montana. He later started working as a sheetmetal worker and pipefitter for the railroad, which led him and his family to move to Burlington in 1986.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He was a member of the Des Moines County Riding Club, and Big Muddy Investment Club. John enjoyed being outdoors; working in his garden, hunting, fishing, riding horses, and working on the farm. He could always be found tinkering on something or remodeling homes. He enjoyed having dinners with his Montana Group. Most of all, John enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, John Perry of Issaquah, WA; one daughter, Kim (Scott) Lohmann of Sperry; four granddaughters, Jordanne (Caleb) Mathena of North Bend, WA, Brittany (Spencer) Manning of Tacoma, WA, Ashley Lohmann of Sperry, and Jennifer Lohmann of Sperry; three great grandchildren, Heath Mathena, Clara Mathena, and Benjamin Manning and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
