Kevin Brent Nickell

Kevin Brent Nickell, 60, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born February 24, 1963, in MO, he was the son of James William and Carolyn Ruth Krummel Nickell.

He graduated from Burlington High School in 1981.

Kevin worked at Innovairre for 39 years where he ran the printing press and then later became the Press Room Lead Supervisor.

Kevin was part of Midwest Central Railroad as a conductor/ brakeman in Mt Pleasant. Kevin was a Civil War history buff. He enjoyed golfing at the Mt Pleasant Golf Club. He also enjoyed gambling, playing cards (Pitch), hiking, Geode Hunting and baseball. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Kevin liked traveling with his son, and they visited many national parks.

Survivors include son, Ben Nickell of Mount Pleasant; sister, DeeAnn (John) Howard of New London; nephew, Matthew (Stephanie) Hicks of New London; and niece, Karrie (Justin) Lox of Kansas City, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Graveside Committal Service for family and close friends will be held for Mr. Nickell will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023, at Long Creek Cemetery.
