Khyla Michelle Dean

Khyla Michelle Dean, 45, of Burlington, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born August 4, 1978, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Michael and Elyn Holton-Dean. 

She was a graduate of Burlington High School. After high school, she attended Southeastern Community College. 

Khyla enjoyed volunteering for many companies in the Burlington Area, including; Zaiser's Florist, Hospice House, Goodwill, and Hopefully Yours.

She enjoyed movies, especially ones with Jackie Chan. She loved gardening, art, word searches, animals and caring for babies. Most of all, she loved her family and taking vacations to Tennessee or going out to eat, especially at Asian cuisine restaurants.  She was a kind and gentle soul and will be missed by all who love her. 

Family include her parents, Michael Dean Sr.and Elyn Holton-Dean of Burlington; three siblings, Staci (John) Fountain of Berkeley, IL, Michael (Lisa) Dean, Jr. of Des Moines, and David Shores of Des Moines; nieces, Stacia (Eric Berry) Dean, MyKale Dean, Lorelle Dean, Samara Dean, Sophia Fountain, Cameron Fountain; great-nieces and nephew, RaShaun Donaldson, Amirah Berry, and Leilani Dean.

She was preceded in death by grandparent, Wilbert (Malena) Ray, Melvin (Fay) Dean, and Thomas (Oleta) Holton, Sr.

Visitation with the family to receive friends will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The funeral service for Ms. Dean will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor Sylvia Tillman officiating.  Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.  A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh Funeral Service following the burial.
