Lois (Wright) Cory

Lois Cory, 98, of Burlington, died at 4:25 PM Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the ParkView Care Center in Fairfield.

Born June 13, 1923, in Lincoln, NE, she was the daughter of William Robert and Dorothy Julia Rogers Wright. On January 24, 1944, she married Max Edwin Cory in Phoenix, AZ. He later passed on May 26, 2004.

Lois was a homemaker.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church as well as Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the University of Nebraska. She love playing bridge, was a good cook, and was a marvelous at needlepoint. She love to travel, spending many summers in Okoboji. 

Survivors include two sons, Max Edwin Cory, Jr. of Onawa, IA and William Wright (Betty) Cory of St. Petersburg, FL; one daughter, Julia (Steve) Swanson of Burlington; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two nieces, and two nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Salisbury.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, at Messiah Lutheran Church.

The funeral service for Ms. Cory will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 19, 2021, at Messiah Lutheran Church with Reverend Susanne E. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Presbyterian Church Columbarium on Tuesday July 20, 2021.

A memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church.
