Louis Wallace Obituary

Louis "Lou" Richard Wallace, 76, of Burlington, departed from this life on February 8, 2026, after his heroic battle with cancer.

Born October 5, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Richard Newton and Elisa Clementina Bisi Wallace. On September 16, 1967, he married Linda Mary Rich in St. Alphonsus Church, Mt. Pleasant IA.

Lou attended Burlington High School and enlisted into the U.S. Army while still in school.

For the past 20 years, Lou had the honor of serving as the cook for the Carthage Lake Club. Cooking was more than a job, it was his passion and his way of caring for others. He took great joy in creating delicious meals for the people he loved, and he shared that love generously with those around him. Lou passed his passion on to his son, whether they were watching cooking shows together, flipping through his extensive cookbook collection, or spending time side by side in the kitchen as he taught him the tricks of the trade.

Lou loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs and treasured the time he spent with his family, especially during his favorite holiday, Christmas. He also had a soft spot for animals and held a special affection for his cats.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wallace of Burlington; three children, Lisa Ann (Donald) Hensley, Richard Darrell Wallace and Lisa Marie (Mark Forrest) Sierra all of Burlington; three grandchildren, Alex Sierra, DJ Hensley and Arturo Sierra; three siblings, Charles (Jackie) Wallace of Houston, MN, Robert (Linda) Wallace of Ottumwa, and Tony (Melissa) Wallace of Carman, IL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Maria Wallace.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
