Luana Claire Galvin, 85, of Burlington, died in her home at 6:30 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Born July 15, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of James Claire and Betty Nelson Boyle. On December 26, 1960, she married George Galvin at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Burlington, Iowa.
She was a graduate of Burlington High School class of 1954. She graduated from Western Illinois University in 1959, receiving a Bachelor's Degree.
Luana taught in the Burlington Community School District for 18 years. She enjoyed traveling and taking family on vacations. She also enjoyed boating and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, George Raymond Galvin of Burlington; two sons, Eric (Robin) Galvin of Des Moines, and Tom (Leah) Galvin of Burlington; one daughter, Jennifer (Travis) Beard of Pella; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Barbara Deiling of California; four brothers, Michael Boyle of Biggsville, IL, Jeff Boyle of La Crosse, WI, Tim Boyle of Burlington and Matthew Boyle of St. Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant grandson, Ian George Galvin.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 4:30 PM Rosary Service until 7:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mrs. Galvin will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Home Hospice.
