Lucy Olson Gajewski Obituary

Lucy Joan Olson Gajewski, 99, of Burlington, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.

Born August 6, 1922, in Chisholm, MN, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Eva Kazior Kolodji. She married Dale Olson and they had four sons. He later passed. On July 29, 1996, she married Bernard T. Gajewski in Burlington, Iowa. He later passed on November 28, 2010.

She was a member SS John & Paul Catholic Church, the Moose, and was one of the original members of the Henderson County Golf Club. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club and writing poems. She was an advocate for the arts. She loved spending time with her grandkids and was always ready for a trip to Minnesota.

Survivors include four sons, Glen (Kathy) Olson of Biggsville, IL, Gerald (Theda) Olson of Carman, IL, Robert (Lora) Olson of Carman, IL, and Richard (Jackie) Olson of Bigsville, IL; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and sister, Gloris (Tony) Salernitano of NJ and many nieces and nephews.

Besides both of her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Anton, Ignace and Lambert.

A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery.
