Luther Smith Obituary

Luther Lamar Smith, 73, of Burlington, died Monday, November 6, 2023, at his home.

Born June 9, 1950, at the family home in Arkansas, he was the son of Raymond Lewis and Bessie May (Tharp) Smith. On October 23, 1970 he married Carol Kay Terry in Galdstone, IL. They later divorced but remained friends.

Luther worked for JI Case as a welder and painter and later was a tenant supervisor for an apartment complex in Arizona and Iowa.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a good mechanic.

Survivors include two sons, Shawn Smith of Mesa, AZ and Erik Smith of Burlington; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and two more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Shane Smith and brother, Raymond Lewis Smith Jr.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services.
