Marjorie Villont Obituary

Marjorie Louise Kerr Villont passed peacefully into Heavenly Father’s arms Sunday May 2, 2021 at the age of 96.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Marjorie was born April 13, 1925 to Roy Kerr and Goldie Victoria Cottrell at Pershing, Iowa.   She was married 67 years to Jack Lawrence Villont until his untimely death in 2010.
She is survived by their five children, Victor Villont of Mesa, AZ, Tanya (Thomas) Nicholas of Denver CO, Denise Villont of Burlington, IA, Aaron Villont of South Jordan, UT, and Vince (Christy) Villont also of Burlington, IA.  “Margie” and Jack were blessed with nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie graduated from Bussey High School with a straight A’s on every report card and was also a star basketball player.  It was there she met the love of her life, Jack.  When the war called Jack as a U S Marine, he took training as an Aviation Machinist Mate in Memphis TN, she followed him there and they were married just across the river in Marion, Arkansas on June 26, 1943.  Later they were married for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Margie was a devout member of the LDS Church and served in many positions.
For her war effort Margie stayed in Memphis and made Mae West Life preservers.  After the war she and Jack returned to Bussey and started a family.  Eventually they would settle in Burlington where she retired as an Iowa State Social Service Employee.  Even with a busy life she was very well read and fortunate to travel extensively throughout what she considered a beautiful and fascinating world.  She also was very well appreciative of her English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry which included Queen Elizabeth’s court, early colonist, and American pioneers.  She was a proud daughter of the American Revolution.
Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was her desire and ability to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  “Grandma”, “Mimi”, and “Grandma Great” as she was called has left them a great legacy and hundreds of fond memories they continue to talk about.  She was a caring, humble person who sought to serve others and often commented how lucky she was and proud to be born a coal miner’s daughter.  Margie will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
