December 15, 1932 ~ November 13, 2023 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Marjorie Wheeler passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 surrounded by her family in Morning Sun, Iowa.
Marjorie was born December 15, 1932 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Maud (Warren) Jamison. Marjorie graduated from Wapello High School before going to school for training to be a phone operator. She later went on to own and operate a bed and breakfast called Marge’s Roost for 10 years.
Marjorie was a member of Centenary Morning Sun Methodist Church and attended the Yarmouth Baptist Church. In addition she was also a member of Midway Circle, Jolly Jokers Club, Linger Longer Club, Legion Auxiliary in Morning Sun, Sorosis Club, and the Sweet Adelines in Muscatine. Marjorie enjoyed horses, raising chickens, cooking, and teaching Sunday school. She loved dancing and was an ice cream connoisseur, with vanilla being her favorite. Anyone who knew Marjorie knew not to leave your glass unattended as she will clean it up whether you were done with it or not. Marjorie’s warmth and kindness will be missed, but her memory will continue on through all who love her.
Marjorie’s family include her daughters, Roxanne (Bill) J. Spearman of Morning Sun, and Rosalind (Joe) Conrad of Iowa City; grandchildren, Jeremy Martin of Fort Madison, and Megan Anne (Francisco) Silva of Morning Sun; great grandchildren, Adrian, Riley (Maggie), Naya, Dalton, Dakota and Sadie Silva; and great great grandchild, Felipe. Sadly, Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; sisters, Martha Lou Fisher, Esther Rickert and Mary Ellen Griffith; and her parents, Guy and Maud.
Marjorie’s cremation has been entrusted to Prugh Funeral Service.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 2-4 pm at the Morning Sun Community Center (106 N. Main St., Morning Sun, IA).
