Matt Huddleston

Matt Huddleston, 48, of Burlington, died Friday, September 5, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born December 27, 1976, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Gerald Huddleston and Kathy Iserman Huddleston. On May 14, 2005, he married Danielle Stratton in Burlington. 

He graduated from West Burlington High School in 1995. Matt worked as a restaurant manager.

Matt was a huge sports fan. He loved sprint car racing, baseball, and football. He was a proud supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved music, especially classic rock. One of his favorite bands to listen to was Journey, but it took second place to listening to his boys perform in their high school marching band. Family was everything to him. He loved every moment he spent with them. He loved to travel and often reminisced about a favorite trip to Memphis and the time he went to San Francisco and was able to take a stadium tour for one of his favorite teams, the 49ers. Matt loved to cook and was often inspired to create new and unusual dishes out of whatever he found in the refrigerator. He loved the idea of owning his own restaurant one day and recently talked about buying a food truck. He enjoyed fishing when he was able to. Matt was hilarious. Those who knew him best will remember him fondly as a huge smart ass who always had a bad Dad joke that would make everyone around him laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Danielle Huddleston of Burlington; two sons, Christian Huddleston and Ian Huddleston both of Burlington; sister, Rhonda Huddleston of New London; father, Gerald Huddleston; brother, Anthony "Tony" (Sally) Huddleston of Mt. Pleasant; and niece, Bailey Huddleston.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at St. John's Church of Flint River Township.

The memorial service for Matt will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at St. John's Church of Flint River Township with Bill Myers officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the service.
