Michaela "Mickey" Joan Daly

Michaela "Mickey" Joan Daly, 81, of Burlington, died at 11:18 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born January 19, 1941, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Milburn Edward and Clara B. Hageman Lietsch. On July 12, 1958, she married Michael Joseph Daly in Burlington. He died August 8, 1987.

She was a Notre Dame High School graduate.  

Mickey was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. After they were grown she started working for the Burlington School System, where she worked for 20 years. 

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. Mickey enjoyed family gatherings, reading, cooking, and chocolate. She liked going on Facebook and was described as being a people person. The most important thing to Mickey was her family and spending time with them.

Survivors include three sons, Michael "Joey"  (Debby) Daly, of Burlington, Josh Daly of Burlington, and Ben (Beth) Daly of Downers Grove, IL; four daughters, Nan Ashby of West Burlington, Heather (Chuck) Madsen of Lakeville, MN, Nena (Jeremy Curry) DeBard of Burlington, and Noelle (Todd) Hocking of Lake Mary, FL; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary Harris of West Burlington, and Sheila (Wayne) Drew of Burlington; one brother, Thomas (Barbara) Lietsch of Burlington, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jason Daly, one brother, Milburn "Sonny" Lietsch, Jr., eleven sisters, Celine "Sally" Grothe, Therese Francine McLaughlin, Suzanne Carlson, Nancy Inghram, Rita Heckenberg, Sanchia Gahn, Mary Lucia Lietsch, Gloria (Sr. Mary Lucia, RSM) Lietsch, Patricia Darnold., Mary Rincon, and Judith Heap. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Daly will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the PZAZZ Event Center from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

For those who are unable to attend the service, her guest book will be available to sign at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home Friday, June 24, 2022 from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM and Saturday, June 25, 2022 from noon until 3:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Notre Dame Endowment Fund and Transition DMC.
