Milford Kester Obituary

Milford Morris Kester, 91, of Danville, died at 4:35 PM Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the Trinity Rock Island Hospital in Rock Island, IL. 

Born July 10, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of Gilbert and Frieda Petersen Kester. He married Dolores Holst and they enjoyed 70 wonderful years together.  

He was a graduate of Sperry High School and then attended Burlington Junior College.  

Milford worked at U.S. Borax as a traffic manager. He had a passion for farming and flying several different planes he owned over the years. 

Milford was a past member of Latty Church and member of St. Luke's Church of Christ. He was very active in Boy Scouts and loved attending annual jamborees. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, vegetable gardening, and driving his restored John Deere tractor at Old Thresher's. Milford was a very talented musician and liked to play guitar and sing with his wife. He also wrote many wonderful stories about his life and had a great sense of humor. He loved to read Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbs comics.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Danville; two sons Randy (Kathi) Kester of Danville and David (Barb) Kester of Marengo, IL; two daughters, Kathy (Randy) Schnedler of North Liberty and Claudia (Richard) Martin of Burlington; 9 grandchildren: Christine, Mathew, Amy, Kara, Tim, Wendi, Jason, Shawn and Felicia; 30 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol (James) Clover of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Norman Kester and one sister, Mildred Harmon. 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The Graveside Committal Service for Mr. Kester will be 12:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Latty Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the care of Latty Cemetery.
